Personal:

I am 26 years old. I am the Production Coordinator for all visual communications for Kiawah Island Real Estate. I've been a runner since high school, and I have a competitive nature that should explain my high mileage. I challenge myself to accomplish what I never imagined I could do, and I try to encourage myself and others to push their limits. I'm usually late to parties and social gatherings, since I have to get the run in first...(but luckily, I have great friends who acknowledge my routine). I suffered a bad case of plantar fasciitis March of 2010, and I picked up cycling/spinning while I recovered. Surprisingly, I totally loved it. I only ran on a whim or on weekends, or on vacation days when my gym was closed. This fall, I finally got back into the swing of things and started racing again. I'll try to update my races and runs more frequently. I'd like to be where I was 2 years ago....12 miles a day...I mean...what?!?! =)

7 mile warmup (the race didn't start til 10 am). I'm a long-distance runner, so I need to REALLY warmup before a 5K. Ran the race, 3 miles. Came in 2nd female overall (stinks to be #2 behind the girl who I later destroyed in the Reindeer Run a few weeks later). That afternoon, I covered an additional 8 miles. When the weather is awesome, I can't help but push myself a little further...

Hi Mary! I've been thinking about sending you a message to see if you're ready to come back in 2012 and dominate the mileage board. Great job on the race.

Hey Burt! I've completely neglected my updates. I just recently thought...hmmm I should go back and add some races to the blog. I started my own blog which consumed my time and I noted races in detail. Since I don't run every day, I do spin classes and bike as cross training, I dropped the ball on these updates. But I still go out and run absurdly long distances. On Sunday, I'll probably go for 13, and if I feel good...I'll go for more! Check out my blog if you're interested. I need to figure out how to share it on here: http://thewhaleydaily.wordpress.com/

Cool blog! I don't think there is a way to link the two together, but you can put a link to it under your profile information. Also, if you want to know how to post pictures to this blog, send me a private message.

Race: Knights of Columbus Turkey Day Run (3 Miles) 00:20:15, Place overall: 166, Place in age division: 4
Total Distance
15.00

6 mile warmup, 1 mile slow run to the starting line, 3 mile race, 5 mile recovery run (only because the weather was BEAUTIFUL that morning). I was ready to roll---and eat a LOT of carbs---by 1:00 pm. 6,000 total runners/walkers this year.

Race: Reindeer Run (3 Miles) 00:20:23, Place overall: 82, Place in age division: 3
Total Distance
16.00

Per usual...a 6 mile warmup, 1 mile(ish) to the start, 3 mile race (with bells on literally, can you add photos to this thing?), 2 miles(ish) home and back afterwards to grab my Drivers License so I could drink beer (thanks Southend Brewery!), 4 miles around town to enjoy the day. I swear, every race I ran in the past few weeks happened to fall on the most beautifully perfect days. Clear skies. Lower 60s. Calm winds. I love running.
