Personal:

I am 26 years old. I am the Production Coordinator for all visual communications for Kiawah Island Real Estate. I've been a runner since high school, and I have a competitive nature that should explain my high mileage. I challenge myself to accomplish what I never imagined I could do, and I try to encourage myself and others to push their limits. I'm usually late to parties and social gatherings, since I have to get the run in first...(but luckily, I have great friends who acknowledge my routine). I suffered a bad case of plantar fasciitis March of 2010, and I picked up cycling/spinning while I recovered. Surprisingly, I totally loved it. I only ran on a whim or on weekends, or on vacation days when my gym was closed. This fall, I finally got back into the swing of things and started racing again. I'll try to update my races and runs more frequently. I'd like to be where I was 2 years ago....12 miles a day...I mean...what?!?! =)

My birthday yay! Had a great morning run then got together with friends to watch Clemson lose to Maryland. Terrible game. Luckily, we put it behind us and had a great party Saturday night (i challenged everyone to a "24 Beers for 24 Years" drink-off. I failed, but so did everyone else. It was a lot of fun, another great birthday for the books.

Really great Long Run Sunday. 20 ties my max for a single run. Now that the weather is getting cooler, I will certainly try to run a marathon one Saturday. I mean, what's 6 more miles? I think it's smooth sailing after 16.

First rainy day in Charleston in weeks. Luckily, the rain stopped before the evening, but it was very humid, and there were lots of puddles. I got splashed by some mean drivers. They were probably fat and jealous that I was out running.

Perfect evening, but I was really tired. It was cloudy most of the day, and a lack of sunlight really takes its toll on me (which is why I'm dreading Daylight Savings time). Long runs in the dark are not fun, except, they aren't terrible in December because usually the streets are lined with houses decorated with Christmas lights and festive decor. Towards the end of my run, I ran past 2 people walking a dog and I overheard one of them whisper "She runs every day." I laughed to myself because I have never seen either of them before...

REALLY humid. I thought summer was over. I was wrong. I should NOT have worn a white t-shirt.

Absolutely perfect run. Although, I have a chronic muscle pain in my lower left abs. It's been ongoing for a few months now. It's painful for the first few strides of my run, and then it kind of pops or stretches out and I'm all better. It hasn't gotten worse, but it's not going away. I religiously change my shoes every 300-400 miles, so I know it isn't a footwear problem. The obvious solution is to rest....but everyone knows I don't really do that. Anyone have a similar issue? Is this a common muscle strain? I've tried to stretch it, but the only way to stretch it is to do a crunch. It's a very curious and stubborn muscle...

Trip to the mountains, Asheville NC. We watched Clemson edge out #10 Miami. That was all the exercise I needed!
