Short-Term Running Goals: Just keep running!
Long-Term Running Goals: Marathons...and maybe an Ultra Run if I really need a challenge. Personal: I am 26 years old. I am the Production Coordinator for all visual communications for Kiawah Island Real Estate. I've been a runner since high school, and I have a competitive nature that should explain my high mileage. I challenge myself to accomplish what I never imagined I could do, and I try to encourage myself and others to push their limits. I'm usually late to parties and social gatherings, since I have to get the run in first...(but luckily, I have great friends who acknowledge my routine). I suffered a bad case of plantar fasciitis March of 2010, and I picked up cycling/spinning while I recovered. Surprisingly, I totally loved it. I only ran on a whim or on weekends, or on vacation days when my gym was closed. This fall, I finally got back into the swing of things and started racing again. I'll try to update my races and runs more frequently. I'd like to be where I was 2 years ago....12 miles a day...I mean...what?!?! =)

So I rocked the race this morning! It was freezing cold, but the rain held off. The start was really slow, not sure why. I think I was too far back, but I made up for lost time once I managed to break out from the pack. Official time was 1 hr 32 min, about the same as last year, but conditions were less than favorable this time around. I'm happy with this one! And I won my age group: 18—24.

| | I rescued a dog on my run! I never mess with stray dogs, but this little cairn terrier ran for a mile and a half with me all the way home, so I was obligated to save him. He didn't have a collar on, so of course I was paranoid that I would get rabies. I called animal patrol who of course closes shop at 5, so here I was with this dog (who was not coming into my house wet from the rain) overnight until I could do something with him. But miraculously, the family called animal patrol after I did, so they got my address and came to save Ozzy who escaped from the yard the one time his collar and leash were in the laundry. This dog was absolutely adorable. I think he just needed to go for a run....bad! | Comments(2) |

| | I joined the MUSC Wellness Center today, so I have a nice warm place to run during the winter evenings. I picked a good day to join since there was a monsoon that flooded the city. Of course, there should've been a disclaimer letting me know that the entire Medical University is like 6 feet below sea level. Luckily, my car was high enough to brave the floods, but others were not so lucky. There were tow trucks, ambulances, and mass chaos as I tried to leave. Ironically, all was definitely not "well" as I maneuvered the flooded streets escaping the Wellness Center as high above the water as possible. | Add Comment |
| | Day off from work. Sunny, 55°, very good day for a long run outdoors. Also gave me time to think about what I would be shopping for later in the evening...a little late to start Christmas shopping, I know... Good news is, I managed to happily check everyone off my list. Ho ho ho | Comments(2) |

| | It's starting to get a little easier to run around the indoor track. 78 times around went by pretty quickly...sort of. | Comments(8) |
